Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco Websites

Dynamic websites for two museums and one stunning online collection.

Mediatrope began working with FAMSF in 1996, launching the first Thinker site to national acclaim. Declared "a masterpiece" by the New York Times and "the largest and best Web site of any major museum" by the California Arts Council, the site was re-launched in May, 2003.

The new site builds on the innovation of the original site with new features and a updated look. The site is powered by Sitebots® Content and Communication Manager - enabling staff across the Museum to update content easily. Sitebots also powers the Museum's email marketing system and e-commerce functions including the retail store and online membership sales and donations.

Each of the Fine Arts Museums' two institutions, the Legion of Honor and the de Young Museum, have their own site identity, including unique entry URLs. A rich variety of content is provided for site visitors through time-based presentations on the home pages announcing upcoming events, exhibitions and news. The searchable ImageBase of 85,000 art works provides access to both collections.
