Multiple voices, multiple perspectives help you see African art in new ways.
The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University needed a kiosk for their stunning new Arts of Africa gallery that would reveal unexpected stories and new perspectives on the collection. They also wanted to incorporate design elements from the physical gallery, including layering, angled lines, unexpected juxtapositions, and rich colors that signify time periods.
Mediatrope developed a bold graphical interface to inspire visitor curiosity. Playful touch screen gestures reveal interpretive content from the perspectives of artists, collectors, conservators and curators, as well as related objects in the collection. The site provides many levels of information to satisfy casual visitors as well as scholars.
A flexible backend design and a Drupal content management system allow the Cantor Arts Center to change and add content over time so that this kiosk can continually evolve to include new stories and new works.
