Teens Connect to Art and Each Other at Young Peoples’ Laboratories for Art
Teens Connect to Art and Each Other at Young Peoples’ Laboratories for Art At Museums and the Web 2008, Ethan Wilde presented a paper he had co-written with colleagues, Anne Tessing Skovbo Nielsen and Tine Nygaard from Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK), the Danish national gallery. This paper focuses on the youth Web site project, launched by Mediatrope and SMK in 2007, geared at reaching a teenage audience. The result of this design project was a new art community on-site in the museum and on-line for teens age 12-20. The site is called u.l.k. (in Danish u.l.k. is an abbreviation for Young Peoples' Laboratories for Art).

The paper presented at Museums and the Web 2008, evaluates the work done together with the teenagers, with a special focus on creating the Web site. The paper represents the outcomes of focus groups, interviews, usability tests, as well as log file analysis. Through this paper, Wilde from Mediatrope and the representatives of SMK talk about what they learned, how the community on the Web site has developed since the launch, and what thoughts they have on the future of this project.
